The L.E.O. Cork City Student Enterprise Programme 2021/2022 launched ahead of their Christmas market event on Wednesday December 1st at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál Blarney.
Each year at the Christmas market participants have the opportunity to present their projects. This year it will be a market with a twist as it’s organised by Students for Students.
Established by the Local Enterprise Office Cork City, the Cork City Student Enterprise Programme has been involved with the schools since 2004 and gives students an opportunity to experience first-hand how a business is set up and developed.
Run by the Local Enterprise Office, Cork City, the programme annually gives student enterprises the opportunity to showcase their new business ideas and exhibit their products to a wider audience. Prior to the regional finals in the spring, there will be a business plan writing day at UCC on Wednesday January 26th.
The City Final will then take place on Tuesday March 15 in Devere Hall UCC. Registration for schools opened in September with individual company registration opening on October 1. Already, there are almost 800 students registered for this year’s programme.
During the 8-month programme students are exposed to all the realities and challenges faced by entrepreneurs today. Working in teams, they are involved in every stage of the business development from market research and production to sales and marketing. It is hoped that through the Cork City Student Enterprise Programme many of the participating students will eventually opt for self-employment as a career choice.
Assistant Business Advisor with Cork city LEO, Olive Guerin said “We are delighted to launch our Student Enterprise Programme for 2021/2022. After a long tough year, for everyone, we are thrilled to have our Christmas Market scheduled for December 1st. This year our Christmas market will be run by the students for the students, so it is great to see how our students located in Cork City can make things happen. The Student Enterprise Programme is an important event in the Local Enterprise Office Cork City Calendar.

On 1st October, our First years took part in a Hurling and Football Blitz.
It is great to have school sport back again this year!
Our TY Sports Studies students worked very hard to make the Blitz a huge success and acted as coaches, referees, fixtures secretary, logistics and chairpersons.
Well done to everyone that took part and organised this event.
Sincere thanks to Bishopstown G.A.A. for the use of their fantastic facilities.

The Board of Management of Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh is elected for a term of three years. The new term will commence at the end of October.
Parents/Guardians of current pupils elect two representatives to serve on the Board of Management
We have received 2 Parent nominations and they are deemed elected unopposed.
We would like to welcome John Crowley & John Cronin to our Board of Management and we look forward to working with them as we grow and develop our School.
We were thrilled on results day last week, Friday 3rd September. It was another exceptional year for the Leaving Cert students of Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh with seven outstanding students achieving a maximum 625 points, a total of fifteen students getting 600 points and 41 students exceeding 500 points. It is fantastic to see so many of our Leaving Cert students do so well. Most did as well as expected, or exceeded expectations. It is very gratifying when the work of students and staff pays off and the rewards can be reaped.
Our students follow a strong academic tradition that has been a cornerstone of the school since its foundation – a tradition in which all are encouraged to excel and to achieve their potential. We are particularly proud of our results in view of our being a non fee paying school with an open admissions policy that admits students of all aptitudes and abilities.
Ms Moriarty paid tribute to the dedication and exceptional hard work of the staff who had contributed so much to their students’ remarkable success and thanks the parents of the students for the help and support they had given to the school during the previous six years.
We wish the 2021 Leaving Cert class all the very best for the future.
