This note is to inform staff, students and parents of the new public health advice applicable from 28th February 2022. In accordance with government guidelines following advice from NPHET, a number of mitigation measures have been changed or removed by the Department of Education.
In general, schools should now resume normal school routines and normal teaching and learning activities.
The requirement to stay at home if you have symptoms remains – for students and staff alike. One of the key messages to manage the risks of COVID-19 is to do everything practical to avoid the introduction of COVID-19 into the school. If infection is not introduced it cannot be spread.
We continue to promote good hygiene. All staff, students and visitors are expected to continue using the hand sanitiser on entry and exit to the school building and when going into classrooms. General hand hygiene can be achieved by hand washing or use of a hand sanitiser (when hands look clean).
It is no longer a requirement for staff or students to wear a face covering/mask in school. Staff and students can continue to wear a face covering/mask if they wish to do so on a personal basis.
We ask all students to respect other people’s personal decision to continue/not continue wearing a face covering.
There is no longer a requirement for physical distancing. Classroom desk layout will be changed in some rooms in due course.
There is no longer a requirement to restrict visitors therefore we are delighted to say that our First Year Parent Teacher meeting will go ahead on Thursday March 24th as per our school calendar. We look forward to meeting our First Year parents on this evening.
Classes will continue to be partially ventilated during class times and fully ventilated at break times.
Enhanced cleaning required to minimise the risks of COVID-19 will continue for this academic year.
Normal use of changing rooms, staff room etc. can resume as soon as is practically possible. Students should continue to wear PE gear on PE days until advised otherwise.
Staggered breaks will continue and school finish time will be 3.30 (except for Wednesday when school finishes at 12.50) for the remainder of this academic year.
