German Exchange Programme
Cork was twinned with the city of Cologne in May 1988 and since then many links have been established especially in the fields of education, training, music and athletics.
Colaiste an Spioraid Naoimh has been involved in the German Exchange Programme since 1999 with Douglas Community School and Presentation School Mitchelstown.
While in Cologne, our exchange students attend the Herder Gymnasium secondary school for one week and they participate in work experience for the second week.
Over the past 25 years our students have thoroughly enjoyed this highly beneficial exchange. It has not only served to improve their language acquisition but also boosts their confidence.
During the return visit to Cork, our students and their guests from Cologne are welcomed by the Lord Mayor and are invited to attend a reception in Cork City Hall.
We look forward each year to the Exchange Programme and continuing to build links and create friendships that last a lifetime.
