Horticulture 2025
The hard work done by this year's Transition Year Horticulture students has come to fruition. The students had an opportunity to showcase the fruits of their labour by setting up their very own farm stall. They had an abundance of produce on offer- salad leaves, basil, onions, garlic, baby carrots, salad potatoes, sunflowers , nasturtiums and begonias. Staff came to visit and left with their shopping bags full! A huge thank you to the staff for their support. A very special word of thanks to the students for all their hard work and enthusiasm this year. Well done lads. I’m so proud of you all and of what you achieved this year. It will be an exciting and busy year next year with the recent development of new raised beds and vegetable tubs in the area behind the polytunnel. It will be all hands on deck so lots of green fingers needed next year! Looking forward to it. Ms Barry.

ICYD competition in Cambridge
Two students Rónan Byrne and Mícheál O’Cróiniiiin MacMathúana competed at the ICYD competition in Cambridge on the 3rd of May. This is the second year in a row students from the school have represented Munster at this Competition. They debated against teams from countries all over the world such as England, Greece, and Canada. Other people from places such as India, America and Australia also took part in the competition. They debated on a variety of topics such as feminism, politics, short form content and fear of death. Congratulations to the boys for doing so well.

Green Schools
Last Thursday, Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh attended the Green Schools Water Awards ceremony in Woodquay, Dublin City.We were proud to be one of just seven secondary schools nationwide invited to the event — and even prouder to be named the Southern Region winners.This award recognises the hard work we’ve put into promoting the Green Schools initiative. From raising environmental awareness within our school community to projects in our local area and along nearby beaches, it’s a testament to the dedication of our students and staff.Our school’s Water Ambassadors — Pearse Ó Cróinín, Jacob Wallace, Olan Spoonley, Mark Donnelly, and Cillian Twomey — delivered an engaging presentation at the ceremony, ending with a creative rap performance that earned the Green Schools Committee a GoPro camera.A heartfelt thank you to all students and staff who continue to support this vital environmental initiative.

First year Climb 2025
All of our first year classes went to Killarney last Friday on their first year climb. Under the guidance of Mr Cramer all students successfully made it to the top of Torc where they enjoyed their lunch with spectacular views of Killarney lakes.
After making their way back down they still had the energy to take in Killarney town for dinner and a spot of shopping in the outlet stores. As always it was a very successful day and a big thank you to Mr Cramer and all the class teachers and SNA's who travelled and assisted.
