Our 3rd Year History group travelled to Spike Island on Thursday 27th October to learn about the history of the island and its residents throughout the years.
Students were able to make connections between the significance of the island and the eras of history which they have been studying over the course of their Junior Cert History course to date. From the Normans to the Age of Explorations, the American Revolution to Irish Rebellions, The Famine and The War of Independence to World War II.
They had a great day exploring the fort and some even tried the stocks for size! Fortunately they managed to avoid the rain.
Thank you to our students for making it such an enjoyable day for everyone and to the History Department for organising such a worthwhile trip.
