On Friday 13th December, Mrs Norma Coughlan delivered her handmade and beautifully decorated Christmas cake to the school.

Norma’s son Ian was in First Year in 1982. At that time, when the food appeal request went out to parents, she decided that instead of giving a bag of foodstuffs, she would bake and decorate a Christmas cake to be enjoyed by a family in need.

Every Christmas since then (42 years on) she has brought in her magnificent cake and has brightened Christmas for many families. What an example of sincerity, loyalty and generosity.

She, just as the Food Appeal does, reminds and inspires us to be generous to all.
