As part of the Cork Film Festival, our TY Filmmaking Class attended a panel discussion, “Things Can Only Get Better?” Film Education Workshop.

The event was chaired by the Head of Film and Screen Media in UCC, Dr. Ciara Chambers and leading members and innovators in Ireland’s growing film industry offered their views and advice for budding filmmakers.

Also present at the discussion was renowned filmmaker, Lord David Puttnam, Oscar winning producer of films such as “Chariots of Fire,” “War of the Buttons” and “The Killing Fields”. Two of our students got to speak to him and asked him for his advice on starting out in this exciting industry.

Held in St. Peter’s, the event was an invaluable cultural experience for the students. We may have another Cillian Murphy or Lenny Abrahamson on our hands from Colaiste an Spioraid Naoimh in the future!
