On Monday 15th May our 2nd year students went on an Ecology Field Trip to FOTA. The Practical Field Ecology course covers all aspects of the Junior Certificate Biology module.
Their day started with an investigation into the grasslands, woodlands and habitats of Irish wildlife.
Students practiced using pooters, sweep nets and beating trays to identify the distribution of fauna in the area.
At lunchtime they used their free time to explore the wildlife park and saw the newly born giraffes, cheetah cubs, lemurs and rhino calf.
After lunch the students had a lecture from the FOTA zoologists on biodiversity, conservation and habitat studies.
