Two of our students, Rónan Byrne and Mícheál O’Cróinín MacMathúana qualified for the Finals of the International Competition for Young Debaters (ICYD) competition which was held in Cambridge University on Saturday, 3rd May.
This is the second year in a row that students from CSN have represented Munster at this competition and Rónán & Mícheál were fantastic.
Established in 2003, ICYD has grown to become the world’s largest British Parliamentary Format junior debating competition. It is a unique opportunity for students to participate in high-level debates against their peers from all around the world.
The Finals took place in the Cambridge Union and included teams from the U.K., Ireland, India, Greece, Canada, East and South East Asia, Middle East (UAE/Kuwait), Kazakhstan & Romania
Some of the topics our students debated included feminism, politics, short form content and fear of death.
Congratulations to the boys for reaching the Finals and for doing so well. We are very proud of them and look forward to seeing them continue to debate on behalf of CSN.
